NGNT Group WiFi Tournament D/C and DQ Rules

Ver.1:

'Player' and 'Host' are not equal.

A registered player that did not truthfully agree to the rules of the Terms & Agreements on the sign-up form will be disqualified before the tournament start time.

A 'round' is signified by a small kunai counter on the game's screen. A round can only be won once the opponent's HP reaches 0.

A 'match' is over when the game shows the "Battle is Over!" message. On Wi-Fi, whoever wins 2 rounds first wins the match (this rule cannot be modified in-game). At the end of the match, players return to the character selection screen.

A 'set' is a batch of matches played consecutively. Usually, a set would be "the best out of 3 matches" or "the best out of 5 matches". In a Single-Elimination tournament, if you win a set, you move up the brackets; if you lose a set, you are Disqualified. In a double-Elimination tournament, if you win a set, you move up the brackets; if you lose a set for the first time, you are transferred to a losers block of the bracket; if you lose a set for the second time, you are disqualified.

Disqualification (DQ) means the player is removed from the rest of the tournament, and may not re-enter the tournament. If a player is DQ'd before the start time of the tournament, that player may not show up as a participant during the tournament (this automatically results in defaults). If a player is DQ'd before the start or during the duration of a set, it counts as a loss of that set.

A player is 'defaulted' when he or she fails to be available for receiving contacts/start a match within a varying time limit.

The first time a player is missing in the tournament, he or she receives a 10-minute time limit before a default is given. The next time a player is missing in the tournament, he or she receives a 5-minute time limit before a default is given.

When a player is defaulted, a "BYE" will appear next to the entrant's name in the bracket.

The first "BYE" will result in a loss of the set.

The second "BYE" will result in a DQ from the tournament.

If both players lose the set simultaneously (in the time frame of "in-the-game"), the higher seed wins by default.

Upon forfeiting a set, that player receives a default. A player may not forfeit after the first match of the set unless he or she forfeits simply due to a connection problem.

Non-seeded players are placed on a temporary seed list. Earlier entrants receive higher seeds than latter entrants in this case- no players have equal seeds.

If two players are perpetually not able to connect with the Wi-Fi, the two players are to try whatever they could to start the set without disrupting the tournament. If nothing can be done, the two players vote on one of the following: 1. A random win determination (conducted by the host), 2. Higher seed chooses a representative player in the tournament within his seed range of 2 to play the lower seed instead. (This option can only be chosen if players (excluding the opponent) within the higher seed player's seed range of 2 is available during the discussion.)
If the representative player cannot connect to the lower seed player mentioned above, that lower seed player is defaulted.

If a disconnection happens during a set, obey the "Disconnection Problem Rules Procedure".

A direct opposition to any of the rules will result in a DQ from the tournament and may also result in a ban from the group.

Disconnection Problem Rules Procedure
If able, quickly determine the source of disconnection. If not apparent, more procedures can be taken by having both players each connect to different players. If no evident results show, move on. If a source is determined in whatever step of this procedure, move on to the last step.

Determine the guilty factor. Whoever has the highest precentage rate of disconnections from all the tournaments is determined as the source of the disconnection (this only applies if the difference of the players' percentages of disconnections are roughly greater than 5%).

If above step cannot be done, calculate guilty counters.

Follow disconnection for happening in the first match of the set. Previous match loser gets 1 extra guilty counter whenever he or she gains guilty counters.

If disconnection happened in the third match of the set:
Determine if the third match of the set was needed. If it wasn't ignore the disconnected match and skip the third match. If not:
case: ' (double every guilty counter gained).

If disconnection happened during a finals match, consult Host.

If nothing can be done to determine the source of the disconnection, host analyzes the previous tournaments. If no decision can be made by the host, the lower seed is determined to be the source of the disconnection.

The player who is determined to be the source of the disconnection must take responsibility. If this is the first time of accusation, the two players restart the MATCH. All previous match results in the set are saved, and only all of the previous round results in the match of disconnection is ignored. If this is the second time of accusation, the player of the source is defaulted for that set. If this is the third time of accusation, the player is DQ'd and will automatically receive defaults in all of the future sets of the tournament. If this is not the first time of the procedure, and player(s) have substantial amount of guilty counters, repeat last step where the player with the more guilty counters is the source of the disconnection. If no one was the source of disconnection, redo the match ASAP. If this is the second time of the procedure where no one was the source and no guilty counters were determined, go back to the second last step of the procedure and rule an unfair judgment.

Yes, we're having another one to make up this tournament. Although I wasn't expecting much players, signing up and not showing up is way different than just not signing up in the first place D:
Next tourney will have the most strict rules in the world >:DDDDD (it was never not-strict, it was just because I didn't want to DQ people for such reasons), and they will be executed for the first time with the host as me. Don't cry if you're DQ'd without playing a match, (or even, when you're UNFAIRLY DQ'd) in the next tournament.

Anyways, gratz to these people for this tournament. Nothing really amazing to give your gratulations to since 70% didn't show up, and 50% of the matches of the remaining 30% of the people never actually happened.

The game can last 2~3 hours, so be prepared.

You need to arrive here on this blog (http://youtubengnt.blogspot.com/) BY THE TIME mentioned, BY THE TIME MENTIONED (yes, I said it twice). Try to arrive prepared and promtly on this blog page about 30~20minutes before the told time! Make sure your friend list has enough empty spaces before connecting online (Needs enough blank slots for total nubmer of contestants - 1). We would like to start and proceed with the tournament without any delays, so please empty the list AHEAD OF TIME if there are not enough slots.
Have your lap/net/desktop and wii ready, both next to you with stable internet connection.
There will be very few exceptions for schedule delays, so make sure you can get everything going on time. I am VERY generous about giving out tasty disqualifications due lateness.

On this blog, log in to the BIG chat box on the front page. Please log in using your name shown on the brackets (it might not be your full YouTube account username)!

Since it is a Double Elimination tournament, you MAY NOT leave until you have been completely disqualified (after you lose against 2 different competitors). Yes, this has happened before. You may stick around even after your disqualifications, however, do not disrupt the chat box or other unfinished players. We've had disqualified people go "FU**ING START THE MATCH!"X100 when we were stuck due to a set of players not being able to hold a legal match. It was hard to communicate with those players due to the random distractions.

We like each round to last about 10 minutes. This is more than enough if people cooperate and don't mess up.
Any participants holding back the schedules or the pace of the bracket proceedings will be disqualified.

*If everyone finishes the round faster than expected, the whole schedule will shift forward a bit. Sadly, this never happened before.

RULES:

Matches only count if ALL of the rules are followed.

You may not use Kankuro, Hiruko, Chiyo, and Kiba.

You may not use any other control method other than the GC controller or the Classic controller.

1st Player must set the options before selecting his character every time. The options setting must be: Obstacles-OFF; Stage Transitions-OFF; LNP-ON; Handicap-OFF;

If someone messes up the rules, a rematch is required.
If a match disconnects during the middle of the match, a rematch is required. (D/C rules of NGNT Group Official WiFi Tournament II will apply).

Each match except the Finals are Best-Out-of-Three. K.O.'ing your opponent twice (2 shurikens) is 1 match. So players must play 3 separate matches. Winner of a previous match cannot switch characters for the next match.
Report match scores on the chat in this blog. PLEASE REPORT HOW MANY MATCHES YOU WON OUT OF THE 3. If the opponent disagrees on playing the 3rd match because s/he has already lost, you may not nag the opponent for more matches.

Finals match is best-out-of-five.

PRIZES:
All participants will be added onto the group's Ladder (ugh...)
Each and all separate matches will count as a formal ladder match as long as the match is legitimate.
1st Place, independent ladder points of 50.
2nd Place, independent ladder points of 40.
3rd Place, independent ladder points of 30.

EDIT: Looking at the rate of signups, it might be a simple single day (maximum) 32-participants tournament.
Also, it's Double Elimination.

Kankuro, Hiruko, Chiyo, and Kiba are banned from this tourney. If you happened to main them, please prepare another character for the tournament. It's online anyways, so make it fun at least. And NO WII+NUN COMBO. Only GC controller or classic.
Option settings as of now will probably be Obstacles-OFF, Stage Transitions-OFF, LNP-ON, Handicap-OFF. Gotta make it simple because 80% of the players will fail setting these properly at about 50~98% rate-- these statistics are true so don't argue D:

This tournament will change the ladders (all proper matches count as regular ladder matches), and will determine seeds in future group tourneys and tournaments..

Please make sure you add all 15 other participants' friend codes into your friend list before the tournament (empty out list if needed!). The will speed up match-up processes.
Delaying the tournament in ill manner will not be permitted.

-Rules-
Matches will be Singles, best out of 3 matches (each match by default has 2-rounds-winner).
((Players need to play all 3 matches, unless the first 2 matches are won by one person, deciding the winner. If so, one or both person may reject the third match, an donly the two played matches will count as ladder matches.))
The winner of the previous match MAY NOT CHANGE THEIR CHARACTER. The loser of that previous match, however, can change their character if they want.
For each match (before selecting character), the host of the match will have to go onto the Options menu by pressing [start]] at the character selection screen, and turn off:

If the host forgets to do this, re-do your matches ASAP (give them a signal such as walking forward or doing nothing). If the host continuously (multiple times in a row) does the same thing, and you cannot contact him whatsoever, the host may be disqualified.

In case of Internet Disconnection, please reconnect and try again. If the opponent disconnects multiple times while he's at a disadvantage (and there aren't much spikey lags or other evidence of horrible connection during other rounds and matches), that d/c'er may be disqualified.

No match that perfectly followed the rules will count towards the score whatsoever. Please redo the matches, ASAP.

When the tournament's block round end during your matches, whoever has the most MATCHES WON + the most ROUNDS WON on the present match advances (not HP). If the counts result in a draw, players may finish up that match.

Ladder Board Ranking Thing Helpzz T^T

I'm sure someone's used to this kind of thing;;
So apparently, the new ladder system doesn't seem to work too well.
I don't mind it being absolutely inefficient, but the equation seems broken.
You seem to lose A LOT when you lose against an opponent on the same tier as you (which is bad).
The good thing is that when you lose to a much higher tier, you don't lose much, and when you lose to a lower tier, you lose quite a bit. OK;;
but the fact that you lose about 2 times the amount you would get from beating a guy on the same tier as you when you lose to the guy on the same tier sounds a bit harsh...
We'll probably run out of the numbers then lol

This is the equation as of now:
winr: new pt = curr + K(1 - opp.tier)
loser: new pt = curr + (winner's K)(0 - opp.tier)

K and tier values depend on tiers:
A tier, K=10, tier value .2
B tier, K=16, tier value .2
C tier, K=24, tier value .5
D tier, K=32, tier value .7
E tier, K=32, tier value .9
If you think about it, it's kinda stupid too.
Can someone fix up this formula? :D

Group NCoNR3 Ladder Matches #2 - Jan.9th+10th (2010)

Happy New Years~ start 2010 off with a good status on your ladder ;D (if anyone cares)!

Ladder Matches for Naruto Shippuuden Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 will be held available on January 9th [12:00AM pacific] through January 10th [11:59PM pacific].

During these 2 days, you may request a ladder match with anyone else currently on the ladder.
If the opponent agrees to play the ladder match, then the two can have a 1-match (whoever wins 2 points first) with the following setting: no obstacles, no stage trans., no handicaps, no LNP*.
*LNP can be on, but only if both players agrees it to be.
After the match, both players should report who won and who lost by PM (Private Message)'ing me (hanyunanodesu) on the chatango chat box, or the xat chat.

This ladder match cannot be held more than once against the same person.
You cannot have more than 3 ladder matches per day.

We will have up to 8 people this time.

It will be held at Jan 2nd (Saturday) at 4:00PM (EST)!

Rules (if not followed, that certain match should be redone):
Obstacles, StageTransitions, Handicaps, and LNP OFF
DOUBLE Elimination
Following characters are banned:
Kiba (glitch), Hiruko (b.B retardedly hard to bait with lag), Kankuro (connection and camera ****), kurenai (muhaha!!).
Stages must always be random.
If settings were set wrong, you are able to redo JUST that round.
Same rules for Disqualifications apply as the previous 2 tournaments.

During the tourney
Everyone will gather at a certain chat box above this post that day. Please try to come online a bit early (about 10~30 minutes BEFORE the scheduled tourney start time).
Please have your desktop/laptop nearby- preferably right next to your seat or something, so that you can constantly check and report on the chat box.
As soon as the tourney starts, we will exchange friend codes with each other.
You may record any matches you desire.

cThe YT Group's -NS CoN R3- Wi-Fi Tournament will be held on December 13th, 2009.
Sign-Ups end at 11:59PM (December 12th).

Please double check that you can arrive in time for the tournament before signing up, and that you will be able to stay for the whole duration of the tourney (and of course, that your wi-fi works with stability). (For dinners, eat them before, or have it next to you so that you can eat while you wait for other people or something!)

It is extremely recommended that you have a laptop/notie2book/netbook (if not, a desktop) right next to your wii station so that you can access the others at any time.

Pick It Up Tourney, Coming Sunday- Nov 22nd [OVER]

At maximum, there will be 16 participants, so be sure to sign up here quick!

It will be held at Nov 22nd (Sunday) at 4:00PM (EST)!

Rules (if not followed, that certain match should be redone):
90 Second Time-Limit (Default)
Power Level 3 (Default)
Obstacles, StageTransitions, and LNP OFF (LNP's mostly seems balanced somewhat, but in wi-fi, the lag makes some more useful than others)
Single Elimination
Kankuro is banned since WiFi is laggy enough, No Stage ban.
If settings were set wrong, you are able to redo JUST that round.
If disconnected, sorry, but whoever won the most rounds until that point in time wins. If draw (same amount of round wins), you may reconnect and re-try. If suspicion is brought up, you will be disqualified.

During the tourney
Everyone will gather at a certain chat box above this post that day. Please try to come online a bit early (about 10~30 minutes BEFORE the scheduled tourney start time).
Please have your desktop/laptop nearby- preferably right next to your seat or something, so that you can constantly check and report on the chat box.
As soon as the tourney starts, we will exchange friend codes with each other.
You may record all or few or no matches.

Youtube Group "Pick It Up Tourney" for Naruto CoN Revolution 3

Remember that tournament we were going to have? Well instead of that, I thought it would be a good idea for us to do a very small and early wi-fi matches to figure things out, then save a really big one for much later.

This will be called Pick It Up Tourney - if you have any objections to the name, go ahead and tell me whatever you'd like to suggest.
The tourney will be held on November 24th. Only sign up if you are definitely sure if your copy will arrive a few days before the date- no maybe's.
Again, this is to figure out stuff and have fun... so it's nothing grand or competitive.

No, this is not real yet. Just testing.
If you have time to kill like I do, please try and see if it works.
And give back suggestions or changes I should make.

One big issue I can think right at the spot is that I made it to accept one form per IP.
Very good against people who spam register for fun, but this will cause inconvenience for
those households with brothers/sisters/roommates who wants to try the tournament too (if they're using same internet).

Upcoming Tournament for NS CoN R3

Yep, this will be the tournament for our group.
I will host it, along with other people if they are willing to help.
This tournament will accept others outside our group though.
It will only be held couple of weeks after the game's release so that we give other people with late delivery/ purchase a chance.
This tournament will be canceled if the game turns out to have a very laggy wi-fi feature (of course, some lags will be tolerated, after all, US has a long distance across itself).
This is far away, but just putting it out there so people can look forward to it... or more like to fill up this damn blog lmao;
